EPISODE
GUIDE
Poor Devon
was only in eight episodes between seasons 2 and 4 of Buffy,
and his part was never critical to the storyline. But if you're
wondering what he did get to do, this page will provide the
answers. Plus, because like Devon I am shallow, I've also noted
what he's wearing.

SEASON
2
Inca
Mummy Girl - 2.04
Action:
We first meet Devon as one of Cordelia's many high school boyfriends.
She is busy ordering him about but Devon seems fairly unfazed
by her assertiveness. Once she departs he solicits Oz's opinion
of her. He also notes that it is hard for a girl to impress Oz,
and that his lead guitarist doesn't use the "currency"
of being in a band enough to get him said females.

Later, at
a dance in the Bronze, Devon is on stage, singing. Just off-camera,
several women and a few men swoon at his raw masculinity. Oz asks
him to identify Willow, but Devon thinks he's talking about Ampata,
the eponymous villain of this episode's piece.
Wardrobe:
In scene one Devon sports a shiny, black leather jacket, over
a stripy shirt with a small collar. On his bottom half are black
pants, held up by a belt with a big silver buckle.
At the dance,
he makes sure that he gets a bit of attention by wearing a skin-tight
white vest under a brown-and-white patterned shirt, which shows
off a large section of his ever so lovely chest. A pair of sunglasses
are tucked into the neck of the vest for some reason. His bottom
half is as the first scene.
Hallowe'en
- 2.06
Action:
Devon himself doesn't make an appearance but he is the subject
of Cordelia's conversation with Angel in the Bronze. They are
at this stage still dating, but he has stood Cordelia up. She
mocks the quality of Devon's car. The next day she bumps into
Oz and asks him to convey to Devon her displeasure, but not to
actually say anything to him so he doesn't think that she is bothered.
Bewitched,
Bothered and Bewildered - 2.16
Action:
A mere cameo here, and no lines (for shame). The Dingoes play
in the Bronze as usual, and Devon sings. As usual, his style is
more than a little sexy, and were the music not so loud the sound
of ovaries popping might well be discerned.

Wardrobe:
A very nice shiny silver shirt and a pair of dark grey pants,
with a small cord necklace.
SEASON
3
Dead
Man's Party - 3.02
Action:
Devon (avec band) appears at Buffy's welcome home hootenanny,
gets to utter one line and then does what he does best, which
is sing in a manner which increases ambient testosterone levels
by several hundred per cent.

Presently,
Buffy's house is overrun by zombies, a delightful consequence
of Joyce buying an evil African mask. Devon helps the Scoobies
in fighting them, or at least expelling them from the house, before
running away - an understandable reaction given the circumstances.
Wardrobe:
For Devon, he's fairly conservative: a brown shirt decorated with
flowers over some ripped blue jeans and black shoes. He isn't
wearing any socks.
Homecoming
- 3.05
Action:
A first: Devon doesn't sing in this episode. Instead he's on hand
to announce the winner of the Homecoming Queen election, for which
Cordelia and Buffy have been vying. Sadly neither win, and Devon
is last seen waving the tiara over the heads of the two girls
who did tie for the position.

Wardrobe:
He really outdoes himself this time: a glittering, gold shirt
open (as ever) to reveal a large expanse of chest. If this wasn't
enough he's also wearing a pair of black leather pants, and he
accessorises beautifully with a gold chain around his neck. Why
everyone didn't just jump him and rip his clothes off remains
a mystery.
Band
Candy - 3.06
Action:
Normal service is resumed: Devon is singing in the Bronze. This
time, chocolate-crazed adults are among the revellers, and Devon
remarks to Oz that, "they're digging us, man!" He seems
quite pleased - until one such reveller (Willow's semi-naked doctor)
shoves him out of the way and proceeds to try and stage-dive.

Wardrobe:
A red and white patterned shirt, with dark pants and a string
of beads around his neck. He seems to have changed his hair too:
it looks a little more ruffled.
Revelations
- 3.07
Action:
Another fleeting appearance, and guess what? Devon sings. Then
he bows.
Wardrobe:
Camouflage cargo pants and a black, sort of lacy see-through short-sleeved
shirt, which shows off his biceps very nicely. Outside the Bronze,
two passing nuns fall pregnant.
Döpplegangland
- 3.16
Action:
In a shock move, Devon gets to do something other than sing and
look pretty: he and Oz set up equipment, discuss roadies and fruity
jazz bands, and leer at Evil Willow. Well, maybe only Devon does
that last bit.
When the full
gravity of the situation is apparent, and he and everyone else
is held hostage by Evil Willow's minions, he spends much of the
episode hiding behind the drumkit. That is until Buffy and the
gang attack, where he tries to climb out of the Bronze on the
stage ropes. He isn't athletic enough to do so, but we do get
a lovely view of his smooth stomach as he tries. He gives up but
then crashes to the ground as Oz is thrown violently into him
by Evil Willow. We last see him picking himself up off the floor
as the baddies are defeated.
Wardrobe:
A dark green tee or vest under a plaid jacket, with dark pants.
SEASON
4
Harsh
Light of Day - 4.03
Action:
Devon's last ever on-screen appearance is at the beginning of
this episode. He's back to what he does best: singing at the Bronze.
Afterwards, he helps Oz move equipment into the van and opines
that the Dingoes will be a success in LA. We also find out from
Oz that Devon once dated Harmony but dumped her for being too
flaky.

Wardrobe:
Blue jeans, and a spangly denim jacket which appears to be decorated
by leaves, picked out in beads or sequins apparently. He's also
got a belt with shiny things on it and, best of all, a cut-off
tee with the American flag on the front that reveals a large section
of his lovely midriff. A fitting send-off.
Something
Blue - 4.09
Action:
Devon isn't in the episode, but Willow refers to him as the person
who told her Oz had sent for his belongings.
New
Moon Rising - 4.19
Action:
As with Something Blue he is only mentioned rather than
seen - and this is the last time! Oz comes back from Tibet and
tells the Scooby gang he's going to Devon's house to see if he
can crash there. So he is still alive at the end of season 4 -
but that's about all we know. Farewell, sweet Devon!
